Abstarct: Wear of locating elements is an important phenomenon in industrial fixtures that leads to deviations in the position and orientation of the workpiece. The determination of the value of this deviation is a must for the fixture designer. In this thesis, umerical and experimental approaches have been used to calculate the workpiece locating error in the fixture. First, the displacement and angular components of this error were calculated with applying disturbance in the locators using the numerical model in Abaqus software. To verify the results, an experimental setup was fabricated and experimental tests were performed to measure the values of displacement and rotations of the workpiece locating error. Experimental tests were performed in two states, namely with and without clamping forces. Each test was repeated three times. By applying disturbances to the locators in both cases, the displacement of the reference point on the workpiece, which is caused by the deformation and displacement, is measured and compared with its corresponding values from the simulation. In the experimental tests, which were accompanied by the application of clamping force and disturbance, two procedures were considered. In the first, the workpiece was in a completely horizontal position and the clamping force was applied to it with values of 100, 150, 200, 250, 350, and 500 N. In the second procedure, the disturbance was applied to the workpiece along with the clamping force. As an example of the results, by applying a disturbance of 0.6 mm and applying a force of 350 N, the displacements of the reference point along the thickness were obtained as 1.75 and 1.7 mm from the experimental tests and simulation, respectively. In the second case, no disturbance was applied to the workpiece, in which applying a clamping force of 350 N, the displacements were obtained as 1.73 mm and 1.64 mm from simulation and experimental tests, respectively. By examining all the results, the maximum amount of error for the states with and without disturbance was equal to 0.1084 and 0.1222 mm, equivalent to errors of 4.48% and 9.83%.
